SUMMARY:Junction Creek Festival and Trout Release
DESCRIPTION:\n\nThe Annual Junction Creek Festival &amp\; Trout Release w
ill be held on  from 12-3pm at Twin Forks Park\, with the opening ceremon
y starting at 12pm by the creek. This beloved community celebration honors
the revival of Junction Creek\, return of life to the watershed\, the ded
icated stewards who make it all possible\, and the inspiration of hope for
future possibilities.\n\nCome celebrate with us! With an optional pay-wha
t-you-can donation\, take part in an afternoon of outdoor fun and connect
with nature. The festival features interactive displays\, live reptiles fr
om Science North\, community booths\, games\, and the highlight of the day
\, the joyful release of brook trout into the creek. Stop by the BBQ for f
ood and drinks\, available at budget-friendly prices (cash-only)\, and coo
l off with ice-pops from Papaya Pops. Don’t forget to bring your reusabl
e water bottle to help reduce waste.\n\nThe event begins at 12 PM by the c
reek with an opening ceremony led by Better Beginnings Better Futures –
Indigenous Led Program\, starting the day in a good way with drum and song
\, followed by opening remarks and a tobacco offering. There will also be
a special unveiling of a bronze sculpture by artist Tyler Fauvelle\, made
possible with support from Ramakko’s Source for Adventure and Agnico Eag
le Ltd. The artwork commemorates the legacy of the late Dr. Jane Goodall a
nd her involvement in the 2002 trout release\, a defining moment in the wa
tershed’s recovery journey. This artwork will be connected to Junction C
reek youth programs\, continuing to inspire hope through action and remind
ing us that meaningful change is rooted in connection to the natural world
\, collaborative effort\, and the belief that every individual can make a
difference.\n\nIn the weeks leading up to the festival\, local businesses\
, volunteer groups\, and schools will come together for creek cleanups\, S
ponsor-a-Fish Workplace Challenge\, and a youth Trout Message Campaign. Th
ese hands-on activities help build environmental awareness and offer meani
ngful ways for the community to get involved in this important initiative.
