Empowering Youth for Junction Creek – Registration Now Closed, Thanks for Applying!
Are you an eco-conscious teen looking to bring positive change in your community? Looking to get some volunteer hours? This summer from July 1st – July 30th, be part of a youth-led program designed to empower teens of all backgrounds by connecting them with nature and each other!
Through first-hand experiences in the recovering Junction Creek Watershed as well as virtual discussions, you will learn about Sudbury’s ecosystems, the importance of conservation and sustainability, and what it means to be a local environmental steward.
You will be introduced to leaders in the green community whose influential voice has paved the way for Sudbury’s environmental restoration efforts while discovering various career possibilities in nature, conservation and sustainability. The group will engage in fun and educational activities ranging from: a hike with a naturalist, water sampling with a wetland technician, nature journaling with a local artist, a nature photography lesson, book club discussions with the Sudbury library, planting for restoration, litter clean-ups along the creek, connecting with local Indigenous Experts for cross-cultural crafts/teachings… and more! Best of all, make a difference in Sudbury with your group and work together, using all that you have learned, on your own community project.
(All COVID-19 public guidelines will be followed).
Follow the program on Instagram to stay up-to-date with activities and stories!
