This fast-growing reed can quickly take over wetlands, shorelines, and natural areas, reducing biodiversity and displacing native plants and wildlife. Beyond its ecological impact, Phragmites can affect waterfront properties, trails, and green spaces. Once established, managing patches can become costly and time-consuming.
