We’ll begin at dusk witha short introduction to the bat species found in our region, followed by a demonstration of acoustic bat detection technology. Then, we’ll head out on a guided walk to detect and identify bats in real time using specialized acoustic monitoring equipment.
Be sure to visit our Moth Discovery Station during the bat walk! We’ll be shining a light on the incredible world of moths and other nocturnal insects with an illuminated moth sheet, offering a unique opportunity to observe these important nighttime pollinators up close.
What to bring:
- A headlamp or flashlight (limited supply available to borrow)
- Dress for the weather
- Bug protection is HIGHLY recommended (ex. bug net gear)
